FAQ

frequently asked questions

  • Letterpress is the oldest form of printing, dating back to the late 1800s. Letterpress printing is a form of relief printing, where the text or image is on a raised surface, similar to a rubber stamp. Ink is applied to the raised surface and then paper is pressed directly against it to transfer the text/image. Printing is done by hand, one at a time.

  • I do not have a minimum quantity on custom print orders. However, the minimum set-up charge starts at $75. What if you only need one print? I totally understand, but it takes time to set-up the press, even for one printed piece.

  • Turnaround time on custom invitations is typically 3-4 weeks AFTER design proof approval. Turnaround time can also vary greatly depending on the nature of the design & assembly needs. Letterpress printing is a very intricate process with many steps: (Prepping digital proof to be created into a polymer plate, hand cutting paper to size, printing each color (while also mixing each color & prepping/cleaning press for each color), and quality control). Timelines vary for design and production. If you’re interested in a custom project, reach out to me as soon as you have a general idea! The earlier you reach out the better.

For custom wedding invitations, I prefer to start at least 3-5 months prior to your desired in-hand date, and even earlier if possible!

  • During Jeremy and I’s struggle with infertility, we started my letterpress business! We decided to name the business in honor of our “hypothetical children”. If we were to ever have a girl, we’d name her Ruth (after my mom); and boy, we’d name him Oliver (a name off Jeremy’s family tree).

In the summer of 2017, after undergoing three IVF transfers - The Lord blessed us with our son, Oliver. Oliver, of course, is my muse for many projects! We are still praying that we may have a little Ruthie one day.

  • I would absolutely love to collaborate with you. You design it and I can print it! When you reach out, let me know if you have plate-ready files.

  • I do not offer physical proofs for letterpress pieces. Proofs are too expensive to produce as I have to go through all the same steps that I would if I were running the full job. I will provide you with a digital proof only.

  • Physical colors are not the same as colors we see on our screens and devices. The color match on digital proof is an approximation and a guide for reference only. Colors will vary and any conversion processes may not be exact. If you have a specific PMS code you are needing, please let me know, so I can create a perfect match.

  • You are able to make changes up until the production stage. Once plates are ordered, any changes will result in additional charges. If printing has already started, the additional charges would be quite costly.

  • Rush order fee starts at $250, not including shipping. Please contact me if you are in need of a rush order, so I check my availability to accommodate. If available, we will move through design & production as quickly as will allow.
